THE LEWIS LEGACY

Our story began in Christchurch in 1946, when David Lewis established a furniture business built on a simple but enduring belief: well-designed furniture, made with care, could enrich the way people lived.

As one of the pioneering figures in New Zealand’s furniture industry, David manufactured furniture for retailers throughout the country. From those early workshop days, he earned a reputation for quality craftsmanship, personal integrity and strong, lasting relationships.

These values became the foundation of the Lewis name—and they continue to guide us today.

CRAFTED THROUGH THE GENERATIONS

Over the decades, our business has evolved alongside the homes and lifestyles of New Zealanders. From manufacturing locally made furniture to curating thoughtfully designed collections from New Zealand and around the world, our purpose has remained constant: to help people create homes of comfort, character and enduring style.

Every generation has brought fresh ideas and new possibilities, while preserving the care, knowledge and personal service on which the business was founded.

RESILIENCE, RENEWAL AND FAMILY

THANK YOU FOR BEING PART OF OUR STORY

Reaching our 80th year is a milestone we are immensely proud of, but it belongs to far more than our family alone.

To our dedicated team members, past and present; to the craftspeople, designers and suppliers who have worked alongside us; and to the generations of customers who have welcomed Lewis & Co into their homes—thank you.

Your trust and support have made these 80 years possible. Here’s to the stories already told, the homes we have helped create, and the chapters still to come.

With heartfelt thanks,
The Lewis family and the team at Lewis & Co
